Cortical spreading depression

Cortical spreading depression involves ionic shifts and effect electrical currents and blood flow in the brain.[1] This effect begins in one area of the brain and spreads to other regions, frequently beginning toward the base of the skull and moving forward along one hemisphere of the brain.
