Phonophobia is an aversion, fear, or sensitivity to sound.

During a Migraine

Phonophobia is a potential symptom of migraine. Migraineurs experiencing phonophobia may experience general discomfort, pain (or an increase in pain), or nausea when exposed to noise. Depending on the severity of the migraineur's symptoms, even a small amount of noise may cause the migraineur great discomfort.

As a Trigger

For some migraineurs, prolonged exposure to loud noises (such as high volume at a concert, or loud machinery) may trigger a migraine.
